Closures and low visibility expected on South Slave highways, most highways reopened

Nearly every highway in the territory has reopened for public use as crews continue to manage hundreds of wildfires in the NWT.

According to the GNWT, Highways 1, 2, 3, 4, 5, 6, 7, and 9 are open. Residents returning home are encouraged to drive with caution and obey all road signs as crews remain active through most of the South Slave.

Additionally, Highway 1 between kilometre marker 187 and 375 between the Highway 3 junction and the Jean Marie River access road is expected to experience frequent closures due to wildfire activity.
