The City of Yellowknife has announced that registration for recreational activities in the Fall season will take place on Monday, September 18th, with a variety of options available.
Among the programs being offered, there is a climbing course for teens and adults. It is an introductory course for those who are interested in the fundamentals of climbing. The single-session program will focus on having fun while exploring movement, athleticism, risk management, problem-solving, and achieving the goals set by each climber. All equipment will be included, and the course will take place on Tuesday, October 3rd from 7:00 pm to 9:00 pm.
Similarly, the Yellowknife Climbing Club is offering beginners Bouldering Courses for children between the ages of 6 to 12. Classes begin on October 14th, and will teach many of the same climbing fundamentals as the previous climbing course.
Two language courses are taking place, one in Italian and one in Spanish. Each course teach the basics of the language in relaxing and judgement free environments. Participants must be at least 16 years-old for the Italian lessons, and 15 for the Spanish lessons. Each languages’ lessons will take place on Tuesdays and Thursdays from October 3rd to November 9th. Spanish will run from 6:30 pm to 7:30 pm, and Italian will run from 8:00 pm to 9:00 pm.
The City is running Taekwondo lessons for adults, as well as children 7 and up. This program teaches Beginner, Intermediate, and Advanced courses of the Olympic Style of Taekwondo. Mondays and Wednesdays from September 25 to December 11.
The Yellowknife Tennis Club is offering several clinics for adults and children ages 6 and up. Instructors will be teaching tennis skills, from the very basics to how to play a game, and for technical development. A variety of courses are being offered, running from October 12 until December 16.
Finally, the City is offering a Badminton course as a fun way to stay in shape. This course is for ages 8 to 12 and will teach the basic rules of the sport and will build the confidence of the participants. Lessons will take place on Fridays from October 13th to December 13th.
