Crews continue repairs on damaged fibre lines, evacuated Northwestel customers to receive bill credits

Challenging conditions remain for Northwestel technicians addressing fibre damage and internet outages throughout the territory.

According to Northwestel, technicians have continued to make repairs to fibre infrastructure damage in the South Slave. Kakisa and Jean-Marie River telecommunications services are still unavailable, and Northwestel adds they are actively working to stabilize landline service across the South Slave.

Repair crews have not been able to safely access damaged fibre lines in the Mackenzie Valley and service in the Beaufort Delta region remains available, but congested.

Additionally, Northwestel home and small business customers from evacuated communities will receive a credit on service bills for the period of the evacuation order.

Residents in the Beaufort Delta region will receive a credit of 50% until service is fully restored.
