The wildfire outside Yellowknife remains out of control and stands 15km from the capital at its closest point.
According to NWT Fire, winds are expected to gust from the northwest, which may push the fire to the south east towards the city. Moisture continues to fall and could further contribute to fire growth.
NWT Fire says the blaze is unlikely to reach the outskirts of Yellowknife in the next three days as the fire has been successfully held by aerial crews and rain.
NWT Fire continues to advise residents that despite rainfall, the fire continues to threaten the city, and the 40km section of hotline remains active despite rain and efforts by crews.
Currently, NWT Fire says they are actively evaluating the amount of work it would take to bring the fire to a mop up stage and eliminate the fire threat to the capital.
