NWT Fire has extended the Evacuation Order for Highway 3 between kilometre markers 284 and 329.
Anyone remaining in the area is instructed to leave as soon as it is safe. Officers are currently going door to door to ensure residents have received the message.
Highway staff is attending the area and will allow residents to proceed regardless of any highway closures.
According to NWT Fire, westerly winds are expected today, pushing the flames further east.
“While we do not expect the fire to move to this end point before the weekend, it is important to be safe,” NWT Fire says.
NWT Fire adds that this does not mean Highway 3 is closed; however, residents are strongly discouraged from using the road unnecessarily at this time.
