The Highway 3 wildfire remains out of control and was last mapped at 113,097 hectares burned.
NWT Fire says the short-lived thunderstorm this morning brought volatile winds leading to flareups along the highway. Rainfall is set to be assessed tomorrow morning to determine how much of a difference showers will make.
The four structures lost in Rae remain the only losses so far; however, NWT Fire says they will assess the Stagg Lake area soon. The Stagg River power station remains uncompromised.
According to NWT Fire, crews have made good progress blacklining a perimeter around Rae, while extinguishing smouldering fire and heat on the edge of the fire.
Crews say securing Frank Channel will be the next priority once Rae is secured with a complete blackline.
