12 new wildfires in the NWT, wildfire report line experiences outage

NWT Fire reports 12 new fires since their last update, bumping the number to 84 active wildfires across the territory.

Fires sweeping across the territory have spread crews to numerous communities and remote locations to prevent fire growth to cabins and infrastructure.

Smoky conditions continue to plague the NWT but NWT Fire is reminding residents, despite smoke and ash, there is no active threat to many of the communities as several wildfires are in remote areas.

As of July 13, 2023, NWT Fire says they are experiencing an outage on their 1-877-NWT-FIRE wildfire report line. Residents who wish to report smoke or fire are asked to use the Wildfire Public Information Line at 1-867-445-5484.

NWT Fire says they are actively working to resolve the issue as soon as possible and will provide an update when the number is activated.
