A recap of Yellowknife’s 2023 Canada Day parade

Even without fireworks, it was an explosive day on Franklin when the 2023 Yellowknife Canada Day parade marched through downtown.

This year saw hundreds of participants driving, marching, and riding through the parade route, starting and finishing in Sombaa K’e Park in front of City Hall.

All three emergency services were represented in the parade, with the addition of the Yellowknife airport’s emergency crash fire rescue truck, which was a crowd favourite.

Several community organizations could be spotted marching in the parade including the Rotary Club, the City Government, and Ptarmicon, complete with sci-fi and fantasy outfits.

Another crowd pleaser was the several multi-cultural organizations that took part in this year’s parade. Community members representing the Philippines, Afro-Canadian’s, Bangladesh, and India all marched in celebration of multi-culturalism in the city.
