The GNWT has announced that they have just launched a new Evacuee Registration Portal.
The launch of the portal is in response to feedback from community governments about the need to streamline the process of registering evacuees prior to, and during, evacuations, as well as feedback from evacuees about having to register more than once during an evacuation.
The new portal provides residents with the ability to pre-register before an evacuation, and to request assistance from their community government during an evacuation.
This will improve access to evacuee services for NWT residents, and will assist with evacuation services when nessecary by promoting pre-registration. This service will also be able to provide more reliable data to evacuation centres during an emergency to help keep efforts organized.
Having residents registered within the portal will allow for more efficient assistance during an evacuation. It will also assist all levels of government in providing support to community governments with their response efforts in times of need.
