Helmets for Hardy holds second annual helmet giveaway

Yellowknife, NWT – Helmets for Hardy held its second annual helmet giveaway in Yellowknife over the weekend.

Jackie Hardy says helmets are given to children who otherwise can’t afford them.

She says she’d like to see all youth in the city wearing them so that accidents like the one that took her son can be avoided.

“In July 2012, our son Josh was longboarding and he took a fall when he wasn’t wearing a helmet and sustained a bad head injury. He was medevaced to Edmonton and unfortunately didn’t survive but because he wasn’t wearing his helmet we feel this is a good cause because we don’t want this to happen to anyone else.”

Helmets for Hardy took place between 1 and 3 in the afternoon on Sunday in the St. Joe’s parking lot on Range Lake Road.
