Roy Fabian re-elected as K’atl’odeeche First Nation chief

Chief Roy Fabian will continue to lead theĀ K’atl’odeeche First Nation.

Hay River-born Fabian, 64, defeatedĀ April Martel by 91 votes to 81 in Wednesday’s election.

Fabian first served as chief in 1988 and returned to the position in 2009. This week’s victory came with a far less convincing margin than his 2012 win, in which he picked up 107 votes to second-placed Andy Cardinal’s 29.

Three months have passed since theĀ K’atl’odeeche First Nation belatedly signed theĀ Northwest Territories’ devolution agreement.
