The fire in Sambaa K’e continued to grow through Monday and last night. Crews are currently working on fire breaks and setting up sprinklers as the fire gets closer to the community each day.
According to NWT Fire, the flames are around 35km from the community, and the burn was last measured at approximately 98,000 hectares.
Additional resources, such as extra crews and a values protection specialist are on scene, and the situation is being monitored carefully.
NWT Fire adds that the fire around Dogface Lake continues to spread smoke throughout South Slave and into the North.
