Basketball NWT announces roster for North American Indigenous Games 2023

Basketball NWT announced today its roster for the NWT-wide male basketball team to participate in the North American Indigenous Games in Halifax, Dartmouth, and Millbrook First Nation in July.

The team includes athletes from Fort Simpson, Fort Smith, Inuvik, and Yellowknife. The coaching staff is led by Head Coach Nick Diem from Yellowknife.

“We’re excited to represent the NWT in Halifax. Our goal is to make this the best experience possible for these young adults,” Diem says.

The team has dedicated their summer to training in Yellowknife and Calgary, starting July 2nd down south.

Team NWT is comprised of 15 young athletes including 12 players and three alternates between 13 and 19 years old.
