Behchoko RCMP Investigating Fatal Motor Vehicle Incident

Behchoko RCMP are currently investigating a motor vehicle collision near Wekweeti that has resulted in a single fatality.

Around 10:00am on May 27th, the Behchoko RCMP received a call from the NWT Coroner’s office of the incident. Their investigation of the scene determined that the accident occurred earlier that morning, around 2:00am.

The victim was a 22-year-old woman. Police believe she was injured after exiting a moving vehicle on Airport Road. The woman was taken to the Wekweeti Health Centre, where she later died of her injuries.

An RCMP Collision Analyst was brought in as part of a special investigation team. An autopsy has been ordered by the NWT Coroner’s Office. The investigation is still ongoing, and anyone who has any information about this incident is asked to call the Behchoko RCMP at 867-392-1111.
