Mayor Alty attends meeting with municipal leaders in Toronto

The Federation of Canadian Municipalities held their Annual General Meeting in Toronto over the weekend to discuss key topics regarding local governance.

Mayor of Yellowknife, Rebecca Alty was in attendance and said the meeting was a valuable opportunity to discuss modern municipal life and potential incoming changes to modern municipal government.

“The last two days of the Federation of Canadian Municipalities AGM was full of great discussions with colleagues from across Canada.” Alty shared on social media. “A lot about the financial health of communities and how to ensure we have the money needed to maintain and grow our communities,” She added.

Rising costs continue to be a priority for all levels of government, and according to presentations at the meeting, a new fiscal framework may help to solve modern challenges and accommodate growth in municipalities.
