The City of Yellowknife has lifted the mandatory ban on open air fires just seven days after putting it in place on May 19, 2023.
The lift is effective immediately and may be reinstated at any time if conditions change and necessitate a ban.
NWT Fire says danger remains high in the majority of the territory and advises anyone planning to have a fire to ‘SOAK-STIR-SOAK’ all campfires and make sure they are cold before leaving.
