Folk on the Rocks announces Main Stage Showdown 2023 competitors

Folk on the Rocks has announced this year’s lineup for the Main Stage Showdown.

The showdown is a talent show style competition that is open for all performing arts and the winner takes home a $500 cash prize, artist passes for the festival weekend, and a slot on Folk on the Rocks’ Main Stage.

The performers for this year’s showdown are: Prime Time, caughtbyholden, Jacob Charpy, Gigi, The Dandy Lions, John Macaulay, James Alynes, The WhiteKeyes, Big Blue, and Hughes.

Performers will compete in sets of 10 minutes or less for a chance at the prize.

Judges for the competition consist of two Board members, media partners, and local talents.

The event kicks off at the Elks Lodge on Saturday, June 3. Doors open at 6:30 pm and the show starts at 7:00. Tickets are $20 in advance or $25 at the door. Advance tickets are available at https://www.folkontherocks.com/mainstageshowdown.

“100 youth projects wanted in French,” a new microgrant program wants youth to plant language learning seeds outside school. A network of action-research teams in Canada, other parts of North America, Africa and Europe is launching a youth grant stream to support French language engagement outside of conventional spaces. Youth across the country aged 14 to 30 are eligible for 100 microgrants in support of grassroots initiatives as part of this program run by the Dialogue Network.
