Rain gives crews a good opportunity to reinforce lines in Hay River/KFN wildfire

The wildfire in Hay River/KFN remained at 3209 hectares since yesterday and no fires or damage has been reported in Hay River.

1.8mm of rain gave crews a good opportunity to maintain lines and due to the precipitation, minimal air support was required.

The northwest flank and north end of the fire close to the Old Village in KFN saw very little fire activity over the past few days and some structure protection equipment was able to be removed from certain areas on the reserve.

NWT Fire says they are expecting hot, dry days over the next week and two new fires sparked up yesterday near Dogface Lake in the South Slave. Crews are monitoring smoke travel due to swirling winds in the area.
