Air Canada announces direct flights connecting Yellowknife and Toronto coming in December

Air Canada announced today it will begin non-stop, year-round service between Toronto and Yellowknife beginning this December.

The flights are set to operate three-times weekly, and customers will also be able to connect onward from Yellowknife on Air Canada’s interline partner, Canadian North. Customers connecting from Toronto to the rest of the north through Yellowknife can use Canadian North to earn and redeem aeroplan points through an agreement between Air Canada and Canadian North.

“Today’s announcement marks a significant increase of air transportation options for the Northwest Territories,” Minister of Tourism Caroline Wazonek says. “With the launch of this non-stop flight between Yellowknife and Toronto, there are increased opportunities for tourism and better connections into Canada’s financial hub,” she adds.

Flights between Toronto and Yellowknife begin December 1, 2023, operated using a 137 seat Business/Economy cabin on Canadian-made Airbus A220 aircrafts. The new service is meant to complement Air Canada’s twice daily service between Yellowknife and Vancouver and service between Yellowknife and Edmonton.
