The GNWT has released a list of what they feel will be the most in-demand jobs in the NWT in the next twenty years.
The forecasts enable the GNWT to make informed decisions and adapt our advanced education and training programs, supports and services to better link to the NWT’s labour market needs today and in the future.
The list can also help students to determine which jobs will be in demand once they reach working-age. It can also help them to find the education and training necessary to work in those jobs.
The jobs listed in the forecast cover a wide range. It predicts that managers will be needed in many different fields, including restaurant and food services, social and community services, construction, retail, financial, and many more. Other predicted jobs include school principals, teachers, nurses, financial auditors, lawyers, civil engineers, biologists, human resources professionals, and dozens more.
All of the jobs are spread out among six different skill and education levels;
– College Diploma
– University
– Management
– Trades and Occupations
– High School
– Less than high school
Employers, educators and trainers can use this information to create human resources strategies and deliver programs that respond to long-term job demand.
