Yellowknife RCMP investigate stolen vehicle in Explorer Hotel parking lot

Yellowknife RCMP are investigating a possible stolen vehicle that was involved in a single vehicle collision in the Explorer Hotel parking lot. Two individuals were seen fleeing the area.

On May 16, 2023, Yellowknife RCMP received a complaint regarding the vehicle and quickly established it was stolen. Police dogs attended the scene and began to track the suspects through the area.

A slight disruption to traffic occurred on the intersection of 49th Street and 49th Ave as dogs and police officers were tracking the suspects.

As a result of the investigation, Yellowknife RCMP identified two youth suspects, and the matter is still under investigation.

Fort Simpson wildfire burns around tank farm

The Village of Fort Simpson reported that at approximately 7:00 pm last night wildfire FS016, which caused the evacuation order for the community earlier this week, burned around the tank farm at the Wrigley turnoff.

Modular homes made in Hay River on way to Ulukhaktok onboard MTS

Housing NWT says modular homes, constructed as five duplex buildings, valued at $150 million are scheduled to arrive in Ulukhaktok in early August. Two new fires reported in the NWT

NWT Fire reported last evening that only two new fires had been identified in the territory.
