Packed house for day one of Spring Trade Show 2023

Day one of the Yellowknife Chamber of Commerce’s Spring Trade Show kicked off on May 13th, 2023.

Booths from around the City and the Territory flocked to the Yellowknife Multiplex to showcase products, educate attendees, and even recruit employees.

Booths included businesses like local gyms, small-businesses, home-run shops, and larger organizations such as the Yellowknife Coast Guard and the Canadian Armed Forces.

“We’re here to showcase what the reserve life is like and highlight what our unit does and what we do as soldiers and what employment opportunities are available with our unit.” Major Pollock told MyTrueNorthNow.

The DND Gymnasium at the complex played host to most of the smaller local businesses such as Taiga Blossom Fashion and the famous Cupcake Queens.

“I love baking and I love talking to people, so this show is a perfect mix.” Frost told MyTrueNorthNow.

Several small businesses like Cupcake Queens, used the opportunity to sell their products and put in face-time with their potential customers. 

Aurora College held a ‘Family Fun Centre’ along with demonstrations, recruitment staff, and hands-on learning opportunities to give attendees a chance to try out some of the exercises available in the College’s curriculums.

“We have a huge interactive space for the college, showcasing a lot of our different programs, including some that people might not know about such as our trades and industrial training.” Aurora College Spokesperson Jayne Murray told MyTrueNorthNow.

The event continues on May 14th for its second day from 10:00 a.m. to 6:00 p.m.
