NTHSSA Hosting Take Our Kids to Work Day for Grade 9 students

The Northwest Territories Health and Social Services Authority will be hosting in-person and virtual events on November 2nd for any interested Grade 9 students, as part of Take Our Kids to Work Day. The annual event is offered to Grade 9 students across Canada as an experiential training opportunity.

Take Our Kids to Work Day provides the health and social services authorities with an opportunity to educate students on the variety of health and social services careers available to them in the Northwest Territories. In 2018 and 2019, in-person events were held at several health and social services facilities across the Northwest Territories, including a full-day event at Stanton Territorial Hospital. The Stanton events included a hospital tour and job shadowing opportunities for the students.

In 2020 and 2021, the event was hosted virtually in response to COVID restrictions. This was first time that full classes and students located in remote communities had an opportunity to participate in the NTHSSA events.

This year will be the first time that the NTHSSA will be hosting both in-person and virtual event – including hospital tours and job shadowing opportunities. This hybrid format will provide Grade 9 students from across the Northwest Territories with an opportunity to participate, while providing in-person experiential job shadowing opportunities where possible.

Grade 9 students and classes interested in participating in the event should submit their registration to the event by noon, Friday, October 28th. For more information on the event and for the registration link, click here.
