NWT Residents Invited to Vote on Local Community Projects for Funding

Starting today, Alberta and Northwest Territories residents are invited to vote for their favourite community initiatives, giving them an opportunity to receive $75,000 in funding from the Field Law Community Fund Program. This year, Field Law received 130 applications from organizations and individuals with “pay-it-forward” ideas for their communities.

Voting is open at fieldlawcommunityfund.com until November 10, 2022. Once the voting period is complete, a panel of judges will factor in the votes to determine who the winners will be and how much funding they will receive.

“The voting period is an important part of the process of the Field Law Community Fund Program,” says Field Law managing partner, Jeremiah Kowalchuk. “We want to hear from the public where help is most needed, so that we can do our part to help make our communities stronger through the great work of our many applicants.”

Giving back to the communities where Field Law operates is a core value of the firm, which operates offices in Calgary, Edmonton and Yellowknife. Through the Community Fund Program, Field Law has donated a total of $685,000 over the past nine years to more than 100 initiatives for their community-focused ideas.

Of the $75,000 in funding available this year, a total of $30,000 will be available for successful Northern Alberta applicants, $30,000 for successful Southern Alberta applicants and $15,000 for successful Northwest Territories applicants.

Once the voting period closes, a panel of judges will review the applications closely to distribute the funding appropriately. Their criteria includes Community effect, Clarity of application presentation, Direct community impact, Originality, and Online votes received.
