UPDATE: Fort Resolution RCMP Find Missing Man’s Body

The Community of Fort Resolution are conducting a search and rescue operation on the Slave River near Fort Resolution.

On October 3rd, the Fort Resolution RCMP were advised that a 42-year-old man had fallen off a boat into the Slave River. Search efforts immediately began lead by local volunteer searchers from Fort Resolution and the Civil Air Search and Rescue (CASARA).

The RCMP have assisted the locally lead search with the use of a police dog, aerial drone and boat. At this time, aerial search and rescue operations are being scaled back. The Fort Resolution RCMP will continue to work with community volunteers to continue searching for the man.

The Fort Resolution RCMP have been in frequent contact with the man’s family and will continue to support them and provide updates. At this time, the RCMP are not releasing the man’s name.

The Fort Resolution RCMP would like to thank the volunteer searchers and the Community of Fort Resolution for their continued dedication and tireless efforts in this operation.

UPDATE:

On October 8th, 2022, a community lead search team located George GIROUX’s body. At this time, there is no indication of foul play. The Office of the Chief Coroner of the Northwest Territories and the Fort Resolution RCMP are continuing the investigation.
