UPDATE: One deceased, several others injured in Fort Good Hope

RCMP in Fort Good Hope has confirmed that one person has died, with several others injured following what they’re calling a critical incident in the community.

Police initially responded to the incident late Tuesday night, and throughout the overnight, more RCMP resources were sent to the area, which has allowed officials to lift the shelter in place request. However, authorities are still asking residents to remain vigilant.

No details surrounding the incident have been made public, however, the NT RCMP’s Major Crimes Unit, Forensic Identification Services, Police Dog Service, and the Emergency Response Team have been dispatched to the area. RCMP Superintendent Jeffrey Christie says police are still looking for information about the incident, and the possible location of the suspect. We will have more on this unfolding incident as it becomes available.

The NT RCMP are continuing their investigation in relation to a critical incident in the community of Fort Good Hope. RCMP have confirmed that one person is deceased and a number of other persons have been injured.

Throughout the night, additional RCMP resources were sent to Fort Good Hope, and as such, the request for residents to shelter in place has been lifted. However, there remains a recommendation for residents to remain vigilant.

Further RCMP resources continue to make their way to the community, including the Major Crimes Unit, Forensic Identification Services, Police Dog Service, and the Emergency Response Team.

As police presence increases within the community of Fort Good Hope, the RCMP would ask residents not share the locations and movements of our officers. Updates will be provided when possible.

Fort Good Hope RCMP is responding to an ongoing critical incident in Fort Good Hope. At this time, RCMP has confirmed that one person is deceased and a number of other persons have been injured.

Residents in Fort Good Hope are asked to shelter in place until further notice. Additional RCMP resources are en route to the community.

As police presence increases within the community of Fort Good Hope, the RCMP would ask residents not to share the locations and movements of our officers. Updates will be provided when possible.
