Hay River RCMP Investigate Shooting

On September 5th, at approximately 11:00 pm, police responded to a report of a male in distress in the downtown area of Hay River. Hay River RCMP members located the male adult and determined he was suffering from a gunshot wound.

RCMP members administered first aid until EMS arrived and transported him to hospital. The male subject was later medivac’d to Edmonton. The Hay River RCMP have reason to believe this was a targeted shooting.

The investigation continues with support from the “G” Division Forensic Identification Unit and Major Crimes Unit. Anyone who has information about this incident is asked to contact the Hay River RCMP at 874-1111

Danielle Dacanay with the Tłı̨chǫ Government’s Language Division emphasized that virtual resources are supplements to learning the language in the traditional way, they are not a replacement for it.

“100 youth projects wanted in French,” a new microgrant program wants youth to plant language learning seeds outside school. A network of action-research teams in Canada, other parts of North America, Africa and Europe is launching a youth grant stream to support French language engagement outside of conventional spaces. Youth across the country aged 14 to 30 are eligible for 100 microgrants in support of grassroots initiatives as part of this program run by the Dialogue Network.
