RCMP Conduct Traffic Initiative on Dempster Highway

From July 27th to August 2nd, the “G” Division Traffic Services unit conducted a traffic initiative on the Dempster Highway. This initiative was organized to coincide with the Midway Lake Music Festival. Officers conducted checks on over 120 vehicles to ensure vehicle safety, seatbelts, driver fitness/sobriety, valid licences, and registration.

A number of tickets were issued for various offences under the Motor Vehicle Act. Officers were happy to report that there were no impaired driving complaints or charges during the festival.

Traffic Services members were also able to make contact with a number of drivers dealing with vehicle trouble to ensure they had what they needed to get back on the road safely. Officers were pleased to find that festival attendees were well prepared and equipped for their trip to remote festival site.
