2022 Prospecter Challenge Coming to Yellowknife

Joint Task Force North will conduct the Prospector Challenge 2022 on Thursday, June 16 between 8:30 a.m. and 12:30 p.m. Participating members of the Canadian Armed Forces and RCMP will be conducting a variety of fitness challenges around Frame Lake Trail, Niven Subdivision, Yellowknife Ski Club, and Old Town.

No roads will be closed, however, there will be minor traffic delays near the Niven Subdivision entrance as teams portage across the road. Every effort will be made to minimize disruption to local residents.

The Prospector Challenge 2022 represents an outstanding opportunity for our military members to undertake a significant personal and team challenge while continuing to develop their mental and physical fitness.

Feds commit $20 million for new water treatment plant in Hay River

Northwest Territories MP and Crown-Indigenous Relations Minister Rebecca Alty has just announced an investment of about $20,100,000 from the federal government for construction of a new water treatment plant in Hay River. The new plant would provide clean drinking water to Hay River as well as Enterprise, KĂ¡tł’odeeche First Nation and Ka’a’gee Tu First Nation. The announcement was made Tuesday at Hay River Council Chambers.

Festival de poĂ©sie arctique Mots dans la taĂ¯ga at École Allain St-Cyr returned to Yellowknife this week. The "Boreal magic"  of the poetic trail is a space of living language and transformation. More than one hundred students created the hundreds of abrimots that are on the ground, in the trees and tucked into hideaway corners of the snowbanks along the trail. Students from Yukon also contributed along with community members from across the North.

GNWT's Department of Infrastructure has closed the Mackenzie Valley Winter Road: Wrigley - DĂ©lı̀¨nÄ™ Junction. On Wednesday afternoon, the Edzo-Rae Ice Road saw a planned seasonal closure. The planned closure was announced earlier this week and is part of seasonal changes that will also see the Dettah Ice Road close later this month.
