Charges Issued to 17 Year-Old Fort Smith Suspect

Charges have officially been issued to the main suspect in the recent Fort Smith incident.

As a result of the local RCMP investigation, a 17 year-old youth has received several criminal charges for the offences that took place on March 4th.

The suspect has been charged with Break and Enter into the Department of Lands office in Fort Smith, Break and Enter into a local residence, and Careless Use of a Firearm. The last charge was issued in relation to an incident where shots were fired at a Fort Smith residence.

The youth has been remanded into custody and is now before the courts. Shotguns stolen from the break and enters are yet unaccounted for and the RCMP continue to search for them.

The RCMP are still conducting a comprehensive investigation surrounding the suspicious sudden death on March 4 th. An autopsy has been scheduled for sometime today in Edmonton.
