The Yellowknife RCMP recently had a busy night that lead to three separate arrests.

On March 7th, at approximately 8:29 PM, a single vehicle collision on the Ingraham Trail resulted in the arrest of a 53 year-old man for Impaired Driving. This man was uninjured as a result of this collision and later provided samples of their breath more than twice the legal limit.

On March 8th, at approximately 3:03 AM, a traffic stop for speeding on 50th Avenue resulted in the arrest of a 20 year-old man for Impaired Driving. This man later provided samples of their breath more than the legal limit.

Finally, at approximately 4:59 AM, a traffic stop on 52nd Avenue resulted in the arrest of 27 year-old woman for Impaired Driving. This woman later provided samples of their breath more than the legal limit.

Since the beginning of 2022, Yellowknife RCMP have arrested and charged twenty-six (26) impaired drivers. The Yellowknife RCMP would like to remind drivers that operating a vehicle while impaired by drugs or alcohol can carry severe consequences and puts you and those around you at risk of serious injury or death. Drivers face the same penalties for both alcohol and drug impairment and penalties can include losing your driver’s license, substantial fines, having your vehicle towed and even, jail sentences. Impaired driving is completely avoidable and residents are encouraged to plan ahead and make arrangements for safe transportation.
