COVID Outbreaqk Reported at Fort Smith High School

The Fort Smith high school has officially been declared as the site of a COVID-19 outbreak.

Students and staff at Paul William Kaeser High School is the latest among several schools to have a COVID outbreak within its walls. Other schools include those in Yellowknife, Hay River, Fort Smith, and Tuktoyaktuk.

Testing and isolation requirements will soon be sent to the school population. Classes within the school who have not yet been affected will be asked to self-monitor for symptoms. If any symptoms are discovered, they will be required to isolate and arrange for testing.

An outbreak is officially declared at a school when at least two members of its population contract the virus within a 14-day period. In the case of a student catching the virus, parents are asked not to send their children to any after school programs until their condition improves.
