Hay River RCMP Investigating Attempted Arson

Hay River RCMP are currently investigating a fire that took place late last week.

On February 4th, officers responded to a call to an unoccupied residence on Elm Street, after the owner of the building discovered minor fire damage to some of the siding.

Their investigation has so far found that the fire was caused by two Molotov cocktails, thrown by currently unknown suspects. The damage from the cocktails was limited to merely blackening a part of the siding, and breaking a single window pane. No further damage has been found, and nobody was injured in this incident.

RCMP are still investigating, as any possible motivation for this incident is still unknown. Officers are asking members of the public to assist with any information they may have. This is being investigated as a case of attempted arson.

Anyone with information on this incident is asked to call Hay River RCMP at 874-1111, or contact Crime Stoppers at 1-800-222-8477.
