NWT communities are now eligible to receive money for waste disposal programs.
It was recently announced that the Department of Environment and Natural Resources is now accepting applications from communities for their new Waste Reduction and Recycling Initiative.
This initiative will provide up to $50,000 for communities, Indigenous organizations, non-profits, schools, and other groups to help support any programs they have that aim to reduce waste, and encourage reusing materials. As for recycling programs, this assumes that groups will be attempting to recycle materials that are not already collected through an already established NWT recycling program.
The deadline for applications to this program is set for April 4th.
