GNWT Releases New COVID Resources for Children 5-11

The GNWT has prepared new materials to help teach children about the effectiveness of vaccines.

To prepare for January 27th, which is National Kids and Vaccines day, a handful of new COVID-19 resources have been prepared for children between the ages fo 5 to 11.

Some of the new resources are a vaccine tip sheet for parents, a vaccine Q&A, and a video, featuring discussions from various healthcare professionals. Included within these resources will also be a “Kids Talk” video, a colouring sheet, as well as a comic book featuring a vaccine themed super hero.

Julia Green, the Minister of Health and Social Services, stated that “The GNWT is committed to providing accurate and accessible information about the COVID-19 vaccines to all residents. I am pleased that we’re able to offer these engaging resources to residents.”

At this time, 57 percent of NWT children aged 5-11 have received at least one dose of COVID-19 vaccine. 77 percent of the NWT population have been fully vaccinated.
