Active Cases Dropping in Jan 25th COVID Update

Active COVID cases seem to be dropping dramatically in the NWT.

In the latest report, the GNWT’s COVID-19 dashboard is showing that there are now only 973 active cases, a significant decrease from the numbers reported on Friday. 931 cases are found in NWT residents, while the remaining 42 are in non-residents.

In total, there have now been 5,170 cases since the beginning of the pandemic, with 4,182 cases now resolved.

By community, there are currently 432 cases in the Yellowknife area, 161 in the Beaufort Delta area, and 137 in Dehcho. Tłı̨chǫ currently has 107 cases, Hay River has 84, Fort Smith has 31, and Sahtu currently has the smallest number of cases, with only 21.

There have now been 73 total hospitalizations, 22 admissions to the ICU, and 15 deaths.

At the time of the latest report, 77 percent of the NWT population has been fully vaccinated.
