17 new COVID-19 cases in NWT, one new death

The territory had it’s 10th COVID-19 related death today. It is the first recorded death in the NWT since October 13th.

The GNWT says nine of the ten individuals that have died of COVID-19 infections were not fully vaccinated.

Of those nine, two were partially vaccinated as they had received only one dose or less than 14 days had passed after their second dose at the time of symptom onset of COVID-19 infection.

In seven of the deaths due to COVID-19 infections, the individual had received no vaccination protection.

There have been 17 new cases of COVID-19 reported in the territory since October 25th.

There are now 197 active cases among residents in the territory. The territory is under 200 active cases for the first time since September 15th.

Yellowknife has gone down to 78 while Behchokǫ is back up to 48.

The number of active cases in Hay River continues to climb and is now at 62. Inuvik has dropped to five active cases.

The total number of cases related to the Sahtu outbreak is at 1734. 1502 cases belonging to NWT residents and 23 out-of-territory cases have been resolved from the outbreak.

The total number of hospitalizations related to this outbreak remains at 55 while ICU admissions remain at 19.
