Police in the territory believe two serious car accidents over the weekend were caused by alcohol.
On Saturday morning, Hay River RCMP responded to a single vehicle rollover on the Mackenzie Highway at 104th Avenue.
There, police say the driver of a truck was ejected from their vehicle when it went off the road and rolled into a ditch.
The driver, who was the lone occupant, was medevaced to Edmonton with serious injuries.
Police believe alcohol was a factor and are now conducting an impaired driving investigation.
Meanwhile, Fort Smith RCMP responded to a single vehicle accident on Highway 5 in Alberta, just south of the NWT border, on Sunday night.
Police say the driver of a car lost control of the vehicle and crashed into a ditch.
The driver, who was ejected from the car, was seriously injured alongside two passengers. All three occupants were sent to hospital for treatment.
Police believe both speed and alcohol were factors in the accident.
“These collisions have resulted in serious injuries for both the drivers and passengers,” said RCMP in a statement.
“With alcohol believed to have been a significant contributing factor, these collisions were preventable.
“Please do not drink and drive. Consume alcohol responsibly, and encourage others to be responsible as well.”
