Fred Henne Park listed among best family campgrounds in Canada

Yellowknife, NWT – A national magazine has listed two territorial parks, including Yellowknife’s Fred Henne, among the best family campgrounds in the country.

Today’s Parent Magazine, which appears on newsstands across Canada, published the article in early May.

It applauded Fred Henne for the types of sites, park amenities and attractions available.

Tourism and Parks Director Richard Zieba is with the G.N.W.T’s Department of Industry, Tourism and Investment.

He says the department has also taken steps to make the campground safer.

“Fred Henne will also be making improvements to the beach for this year. A new lifejacket kiosk is being built where people can borrow lifejackets for swimming or boating. We ask that users return them to the kiosk afterwards though so someone else can use them.”

In a news release, I.T.I Minister David Ramsay says the department invests heavily into territorial parks to ensure they are safe and fun for families.

Last week, he confirmed there would be waterfront attendants on the beach at Fred Henne this summer.

Blackstone Territorial Park in Fort Liard was also recognized in the article.
