Inuvik’s greenhouse seeks public feedback for five year plan

The group that operates the Inuvik Community Greenhouse is looking to hear what residents want to see from the organization over the next five years.

Ray Solotki, Executive Director of the Community Garden Society of Inuvik, says the pandemic has highlighted both the fragility of supply chains and the importance of improving food security in the North.

“The Society is well positioned to be a meaningful provider of healthy, locally-sourced foods and we want to hear from people on how they think we should do that,” she adds.

A public open house is scheduled on Wednesday, March 3rd from 3:30 p.m. to 5:30 p.m. and 6:30 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. in the Vicki Billingsley Room of the Inuvik Centennial Library.

Attendees will have the option of going in person or accessing a virtual session. Members and the public are also invited to complete a survey to give their input.

Everyone who completes a survey will receive a small thank-you gift from the Society and be entered to win one of two fresh veggie box subscriptions or $500 in groceries.

The survey is available on the Society’s website anytime or can be filled out in person at the Public Open House sessions or at the NorthMart from 4 p.m.to 7 p.m. on Thursday, March 4th.

Residents have until 5 p.m. on Friday, March 5th to fill out the survey.
