K’amba Carnival going ahead with week long event

The perfect event to help say goodbye to Winter and hello to Spring is just around the corner.

The 39th annual K’amba Carnival is taking place from March 1st through March 7th.

Unlike in past years, this year’s carnival will be held over the course of a week to spread out the events and limit crowds due to COVID restrictions.

Some of the events at the carnival include: Dene games; dog sled races; youth & adult outdoor activities; raffles; pancake breakfast; raffles and a scavenger hunt.

There will also be activities such as youth & adult talent shows; arts & crafts vendors; youth & adult dance; Carnival Queen & Princess competition and more.

The big parade will be taking place on March 5th at 6 p.m. It will start at the Dene Wellness center and go down the main road to the KFN arbor. Fireworks will be set off after the parade.

The K’atlodeeche First Nation event’s organizing committee say they are still looking for volunteers to help run the events, due to how spread out they are.

Those interested in volunteering for the K’amba Carnival can message organizers via the Facebook page.
