Vaccine roll-out schedule updated with second doses only

Due to the smaller than expected third shipment of the Moderna COVID- 19 vaccine, the GNWT is focusing on giving second doses to long term care residents and staff, with the first doses going to all rotational workers in NWT who have yet to be vaccinated.

The updated vaccine schedule provided by the NTHSSA only includes second doses for long term care residents and staff as they have yet to get word on what the fourth and fifth vaccine shipments will look like.

Residents and staff at the Stanton Territorial Hospital Long Term Care Unit will be receiving their second doses Wednesday, with residents and staff at Inuvik Long Term Care and Fort Simpson Elder Care Home receiving them February 5th.

Residents and staff at Woodland Manor in Hay River will be receiving their second doses on February 8th and 9th.

Long term care residents and staff at AVENS in Yellowknife and the Jimmy Erasmus Seniors’ Home in Behchoko are part of the 125 NWT residents that have received both doses.

Despite the delays, the GNWT remains steadfast in its belief that the target of vaccinating 75 percent of the territory’s adults by the end of March is still in play.
