Fort Liard COVID-19 shutdown lifted

Fort Liard is putting the worst of its COVID-19 days behind it as there have been no further cases of COVID-19 in the community since January 20th.

As of 10 p.m. on Saturday January 30th, residents will return to routine public health measures.

Public Health notes that the lifting of the containment order does not change any isolation advice individuals may have been provided by healthcare professionals.

“There are still a number of individuals self-isolating because they were assessed to be close contacts of COVID-19 cases.”

The NWT Covid-19 dashboard now states that all 35 of the confirmed cases among NWT residents are now considered to be recovered.

So far there have been 49 total cases in the territory, with the other 14 being from non-NWT residents. All but two are active.

The two active cases in the territory are both from non-NWT residents who were diagnosed at the Gahcho Kué winter road site.
