Alleged sexual assault sends woman to hospital in Yellowknife

Yellowknife RCMP say one person is in custody following an alleged sexual assault on a 22-year-old woman in the community.  

Police say the victim was taken to the Stanton Territorial Hospital where she has made contact with RCMP.

Little is known about where or when the alleged incident took place, though police say public safety is not at risk.

No charges have been laid at this time but the Mounties say their investigation is ongoing and updates will be provided as required.

In accordance with the Privacy Act of Canada, no further information regarding the victim or the person in custody will be released by police.
