RCMP warn parents after stranger ‘offers candy to boy’

Police have issued a warning to Yellowknife parents after a man reportedly offered candy to a young boy from a car last Friday.

In a widely shared Facebook post, the boy’s family described a man offering a ‘lollipop’ to the child near the intersection of Taylor Road and Phinney Court.

The man was driving a red SUV or van, but has not been identified and few details of his appearance are provided.

The boy refused the stranger’s offer and ran home to tell his parents.

RCMP say other families in the city should be sure that their children know what to do in a similar situation.
