NT RCMP investigating sudden death in Behchoko

The NT RCMP Major Crime Unit is investigating a sudden death in Behchoko.

At approximately 9:05 a.m., on Saturday, March 7th, Behchoko RCMP responded to a report of an adult man in a residence, deceased.

Officers with Major Crime Unit has taken over the investigation. NT RCMP Forensic Identification Services and Police Dog Services are on scene and assisting with the investigation, with support from Behchoko and Yellowknife RCMP. The NWT Office of the Chief Coroner is also assisting the RCMP into the sudden death investigation.

No one has been charged and the investigation is ongoing.

Anyone with information on suspicious activity is asked to call Yellowknife RCMP at 669-111.

Reservoir Rd closed for fastball championship in Yellowknife

Yellowknife city officials announced that Reservoir Road will be closed beginning Friday. Reservoir Road from Wıìlıìdeh Avenue will be closed to traffic beginning  at 9 a.m. until Monday.

Crews say hot, dry conditions increasing wildfire activity in N.W.T.

Wildland crews continue to battle wildfires concentrated in the Dehcho and Sahtu regions, but fire activity is also increasing in the South Slave and in the North Slave regions. Wildfires near Behchoko and Gameti saw increased growth due to weather conditions. On Wednesday, NWT Fire issued a special bulletin after a wildfire was spotted close to Fort Resolution.
