NT RCMP gives donation to YKCares

In the spirit of giving during this holiday season, the NT RCMP Commanding Officer, Chief Superintendent Jamie Zettler, presented a cheque in the amount of $1,031 to YKCares. Justin Adams and Robyn Coleman, of YKCares, accepted the donation.

YKCares is a charity organization preparing weekend food kits for Yellowknife youth so that they can access healthy food outside of school hours. The YK Food Bank is responsible for YKCares and assists with the distribution of the weekend food kits.

A group of RCMP employees volunteers for the charity, thus collecting money made sense. An internal event was organized in November, and RCMP employees were challenged to raise money for YKCares. The gauntlet was taken up by units within the NT RCMP Headquarters and Yellowknife Detachment.

The G Division Federal Investigations Unit (FIU) and Division Criminal Analysis Section (DCAS) organized the challenge. Sergeant Troy Maclean, a non-commissioned officer in charge of DCAS, who has been volunteering with YKCares, had the pleasure to attend the cheque presentation.
