Rotary Club of Yellowknife helps less fortunate with annual True North Soup Kitchen

During the holiday season, it is important to help the less fortunate of our city. Today, the Rotary Club of Yellowknife did just that with its annual True North Soup Kitchen.

You could see the steam rising from the pots across the street as the smell of fresh chicken and vegetable soup filled the frosty air.

Yusur Al-Bahrani is the President-Elect for the Rotary Club of Yellowknife.

“The annual Soup Kitchen gained support around Yellowknife and volunteers spent last night cooking and preparing the delicious lunch: gourmet chicken and vegetarian soups,” Al-Bahrani said. “The club would like to thank the Salvation Army for offering volunteers space to cook and prepare the food. The Rotary Club of Yellowknife would also like to thank Co-Op Yellowknife and Trevor’s Your Independent Grocers for their donations as well as volunteers at Food Rescue.”

Teaching charity is important to The Rotary Club of Yellowknife.

“We had students from St. Patrick School (Rotary Interact) who joined us to volunteer on this very cold day,” Al-Bahrani said. “Together, we can ensure that our communities in Yellowknife will welcome the holidays season with warm hearts and a delicious lunch.”
