How sweet it is. The PeeWee CR Oilers brought gold back to Yellowknife from Alberta recently, a gold medal that is.
The PeeWee development team dawned the Yellowknife Wolfpack jerseys while on the road in Leduc, Alberta and went undefeated in the round-robin tournament posting a 3-0 record, for six points and only 24 penalty minutes which landed them in the championship game vs The Olds Grizzlies.
“Our boys are on the ice five to six times per week and many are multi-sport athletes,” Head Coach Darren Wicks said. “They train so hard, it’s nice to see all their efforts pay off.”
The CR Oilers (Yellowknife Wolfpack) would prove to be defensively solid in the championship game as a late penalty in the third period sent the Olds Grizzlies to the powerplay, however, it was little too late for the Olds Grizzlies as the CR Oilers claimed victory with a final score of 6-1.
“We are lucky to have such a dedicated coaching staff working with our boys,” Coach Wicks said. “They really focus on long term player development and bring out the best in our team.”
The Old Grizzlies also went 3-0 in round-robin action gaining six points but sat in second place because they had a total of 40 penalty minutes.
The tournament was held at the Old Barn, the Alexander Arena on 49th street in Leduc, Alberta.
Mrs. Jenna Scarfe is the CR Enterprise Oilers, team manager.

Their sponsorship covers the cost of our training gear and expenses such as Power Skating and tournament registrations, Scarfe added.
“CR will be playing this week in a sledge hockey game vs our local sledge team,” Scarfe said. “We are also sponsoring a family for Christmas through the YWCA.”
The CR Oilers will be hitting the road in the new year for some great opportunities to showcase their skills Scarfe says.
“We are going to Regina and Saskatoon in January,” Scarfe said. “We are also are returning to the Coca Cola Classic Tournament in February in Vernon BC which is a wonderful opportunity for our boys.”
Yellowknife Minor Hockey will help The Moose 100.1 Stuff the Bus food drive at the local Co-Op this weekend in the community of Yellowknife. This event provides enough food to restock the food bank shelves for the winter and is a vital part of feeding the hungry in our community.
