MLA Michael Nadli to reappear in court May 5 for crown election

Deh Cho MLA Michael Nadli made a brief court appearance in Yellowknife Tuesday on a charge of assault causing bodily harm.

Dressed in black dress pants and a brown coat, the 50-year-old politician agreed to reappear on May 5 for crown election.

At that time, it will be determined if he’ll be tried for a summary offence or a more serious indictable offence.

Nadli, who’s been the Deh Cho MLA since 2011, was charged in connection with an incident that took place in his home town of Fort Providence on April 7.

He’s alleged to have assaulted an unnamed victim at a residence in the town.

Few details of that incident have been revealed, but police say it ended with one person being taken to the town’s health centre for treatment.

Nadli, who was granted bail on April 9, has been told to abide by a series of conditions, including living in Yellowknife instead of his hometown.
